Dr. Leonidas-Romanos Davranoglou, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oxford, published the second edition of his book “Essential Entomology” at the internationally prestigious Oxford University Press publishing house at the end of January 2023, in collaboration with renowned entomologist and documentary presenter Dr. George McGavin.
“Our book serves as an accessible handbook that constitutes a truly necessary reading for students of Biology, Agronomy, and Forestry, as well as naturalists of all ages. The first edition was hugely successful and can be found in libraries all over the world. Twenty years later, the writing of the second edition was deemed necessary, since the data in entomology, as well as in biology broadly, changed radically following the revolution brought forth by molecular biology.
My doctoral studies at the University of Oxford, which led me to the writing of this book, would not have been possible without the generous support of the Onassis Foundation. I am greatly honored to have been a scholar of the Foundation and, through my book, I hope to contribute to the dissemination of my scientific field to the broader public.”
