Scientific coordinator of the research project 5G!Drones in the context of the European framework Horizon 2020, and Project Manager of 5GENESIS
Dr Harilaos Koumaras is the scientific coordinator of the research project 5G!Drones at the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos” (NCSR); the project is realized in the context of the European framework Horizon 2020. He is also Project Manager of 5GENESIS. Both these works aim at the pilot development of 5G network as well as innovative 5G products and services, contributing to the digital transformation of vertical markets.
5GENESIS consists of five experimentation platforms, diverse in terms of capabilities – yet fully interoperable – interconnected with each other based in five European cities: Athens, Malaga, Limassol, Surrey, and Berlin. It consists of 29 partners from eleven countries (Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Germany, Ireland, France, Italy, UK, Norway, Portugal and Israel); Demokritos NCSR is the project’s coordinator. The aim of 5G!DRONES is to trial several UAV use-cases covering eMBB, URLLC, and mMTC 5G services, and to validate 5G KPIs for supporting such challenging use-cases.
