Culture / Diplomacy / Strategy
Dr. Dimitra Kizlari studied History, Archaeology, and Museology in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with a specialization in cultural policies and management. She completed her doctoral thesis on the National Institutes for Culture at the University College London, with a scholarship by the Onassis Foundation (2015-2019). She has been selected as an independent evaluator for the European Commission, assessing proposals for projects based on European collaborations and submitted in the framework of “Creative Europe” program, as well as an Expert Evaluator for the Council of Europe and Subject Matter Expert for the Canada Council for the Arts.

Her first writing foray in Greek concerns the subject of her doctoral thesis. The “Greek Cultural Diplomacy: Contemporary Approaches – Future Challenges” book, published by Epikentro Editions, is the fruit of many years of effort. Its presentation took place in the Thessaloniki International Book Fair in November 2021, and has already been incorporated as an academic handbook in the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Macedonia.

With contributions from thirteen authors, academics, as wells as administrative executives from ministries and cultural organizations, and in collaboration with Dr. Maria Siehade, this collective volume examines various facets of Greek cultural diplomacy. Among these, the Onassis Foundation, with its diverse projects in Greece and internationally, reserves its own chapter, signed by Dr. Prodromos Tsiavos, Head of Digital and Innovation of the Onassis Group.

What are the elements of culture chosen for the promotion of Greece abroad? This collective volume aspires to offer the answers.
