Angeliki Paparadi is a technologist agronomist in Organic Agriculture, having completed postgraduate studies in the field of food production chain management in Germany and the Netherlands, with a scholarship form the Onassis Foundation. She is one of the founders and head coordinator of the “Small Greek Producers” initiative, which started in early 2021.
“Small Greek Producers” constitute the first case of identification, recognition, and promotion of small productive businesses in Greece, active in the agri-food sector. The website of the initiative has an electronic registry with an interactive map, where all the certified Small Greek Producers are presented.
A certified "Small Greek Producer" is a small-scale, often family, productive and/or manufacturing business that maintains its tax and business headquarters in Greece, operating in Greece and producing high quality and safety Greek products, while employing up to 10 people in staff and with annual sales turnover not exceeding 500,000 euros.
“Small Greek Producers” evaluate and recognize those companies that meet the above standards and ascribe the relevant mark, so that their can products bear it as an identification mark and the traders and consumers can easily identify and select them.
Through this initiative, an effort is being made to protect and promote those businesses that, despite their small size, are based and produce in Greece, offering work and contributing to the national economy, and being distinguished for their high quality products, both at home and abroad.
At the same time, it organizes initiatives aiming to the connection of Greek gastronomy and catering with the products of small producers, as well as actions that link society with the producers and charitable organizations.
The initiative has a permanent exhibition space for the producers’ goods in Athens, which can be visited by professionals in retail, catering and tourism sectors. In addition, it provides specialized benefits to its members, in cooperation with other companies that support the initiative.
