Onassis Scholars’ Association: Values and Aims

People who excel, create, and innovate. People who care enough to give the opportunities they were offered – to access knowledge and actuate personal development – back to society by means of activities, interventions, and works for the public good.

In taking the notion that higher education constitutes a long-term investment for societal progress and development in sustainable and unlimited ways as its core tenet, the Onassis Scholars’ Association reflects the values of the Onassis Foundation both in Greece and internationally.

Through the abilities, talents, knowledge, and experience of each scholarship fellow, through their desire to connect, collaborate, and commit to action for the public good, and having already formed powerful personal and professional bonds, all our members – taken together – form a lively and restless community suffused with the values of excellence, inclusivity, democracy, responsible leadership, and social justice.

Reflecting the ideals of the Onassis Foundation on tomorrow’s Greece

On the basis of these non-negotiable values, the Association functions as a family and, simultaneously, as a forum where members can present their work. As part of its mission, the Association also seeks to facilitate communication between its members, and to support their achievements and endeavors, as well as innovative ideas that can play a part in overcoming national and global challenges. Within this vibrant community of individuals, each member can find people to discuss their ideas with, as well as supporters and collaborators to help them launch initiatives and undertake works for the public good that advance science, culture, education, and healthcare.
