Nomadic Noises

Sound Installation

Description

“Nomadic Noises” is a temporary confluence of sonic circumstances in a particular garden for a specified time.

A set of eight simple, tree-mounted shelters house an assembly of motors teasing sounds from different materials. The interconnected rhythms they emanate spread through the garden, and welcome other sounds to fill them in, creating a syncopated field that engages local sonorities.

The installation proposes an experience that emerges from a group of small sound-making sculptures interacting with the aural ambience inside the garden of the French Archeological School at Athens.
